I expected them to honestly be some type of hard plastic. They are all metal and very bright colors. We are only half way through this calendar as you see with my pictures. My daughter is loving each bead every day. I think this would also be a cute gift for an adult as well. Highly recommend this and was a really great value for nice bracelet my daughter and best friend are building.
